Bad Breast Milk?!

A lot of you would agree with this motivational poster, but what if your breast milk is bad? Some of you
are probably thinking it can't happen but yes it can. And it happened to me!

I had a home nurse come in to check on Achilles and make sure everything was going well she was updating me on what mile stones he should be reaching next etc. This was when he was 3 weeks old. She also let me know that at 4 weeks the colostrum in your breast milk will start to decrease so he might not poop as often as he normally would, he might even go a day or to without pooping. Reason being there is a laxative in colostrum that helps babies poop.

As week 4 approached I was looking forward to not having to change as many poopy diapers but of course with my luck something else happened. My poor baby boy got really bad diarrhea that lasted 3 or 4 days!! It was dark green and super watery with no little seedies in it. I was all worried so I took him in to get checked out. The doctor told me that my breast milk could be bad, I was soo shocked because I didn't think that could happen especially if you breast fed regularly and weren't having any troubles other wise. I hadn't changed my eating habits or tried anything new so the doctor told me to start him on formula. I tried Nestle Goodstart, the one with pro-biotocs and everything else and he took to it wonderfully. His diarrhea also cleared up almost immediately. Hopefully my breasts will sort themselves out by the time we have our second but my breast milk is bad!! :(

I guess that's just LY4E-BABY! ;)
